About the Sunshine Bouyz Race Boat Club
Who we are
The Sunshine Bouyz Raceboat Club is a group of boating enthusiasts who LOVE restoring , maintaining and running their vintage race boats. This is a DISEASE that we share in common, keeping 30-55 year old race boats in tip top shape and running as good as when they were new. BUT we like to get together with all kinds of boat owners to share the passion for fun, friendly boating events anywhere in the central Florida area ( and beyond ) .
who can join the SBRbc ?
Vintage Raceboat owners-
Got a vintage hydro, runabout ,Vee bottom or inboard hydro or jersey skiff ? We welcome all classes of vintage boats from A class small hydro's and runabouts up to inboards as well as the Thunderboat unlimited hydros. You don't have to own an ORIGINAL vintage Raceboat. Any boat that is made similar to one that was raced may qualify. check with us !!!!
Wannabe Vintage boat owners-
Interested in buying / owning / learning to ropes of participating in a vintage raceboat ? We welcome you and will help you learn how things are done from buying an existing ready to run boat to learning how to totally restore a vintage boat of your own. We have the contacts and resources to help you get started.
Non vintage boat owner but interested in being involved -
Don't own a boat but want to get involved ? we can help you. Lots of things to do without being a boat owner but still be a big part of vintage boating as well as social boating events. Events require a tremendous amount of volunteer hours so we welcome everyone.

Got a performance boat or just like boating at different locations and meeting people? come be part of our group.
so what exactly is a Vintage Race Boat ?
Vintage Raceboats as defined by the governing body that sanctions and insures the gatherings ( American Powerboat Association) is a actual race boat hull or modern reproduction of such a hull that was used in some form of organized racing . The actual hull or modern replica that was made similar to it must be at least 25 years old (built prior to 1999 ) and powered appropriately as it would have been when raced in its proper class. It could also be a more modern copy of an earlier race boat hull.
So if you have a checkmate, Allison Craft, Critchfield, Donzi, etc that was made less than 25 years ago but was copied from a older original version ??????? it may classify as vintage acceptable.
Same goes with the small tunnel boats, hydros, runabouts that are still popular today at races around the country.
Modern Allison drag boats and similar would not qualify as Vintage but would be readily accepted as part of our social boat gatherings. Same with your family boat, pontoon, etc.
NOTE - to participate in a Vintage specific event all boats and drivers MUST meet all of the defined APBA safety requirements for boats, motors and drivers. We can help you through these .

We like to highlight a members boat every month. this month it is ........
Wayne hails from Sarasota Fl. the "Pixie" is powered by a 2300 Ford engine.
Pixie was one of the first composite hydroplane hulls ever built by legendary boat builder Ron Jones of Seattle Washington.
Wayne drove the boat for Richard "dick" Moore of Clearwater, Fl.
